The original name for the settlement was Ionia, based on the name of the territory Ionian Rise North. However Vortexion suggested to [[NoContextGiven]] to change the name to avoid unwanted confusion and attention. The name was thus changed to Amcar based on Aret Mining Corporation rooted in the settlements founding lore. Under the Amcaran Social Republic and especially under New Amcar it became increasingly necessary to distinguish the various settlements from the nation and the capital proper. The nickname Anthill was adopted due to the bases location on a prominent mountain, the increasing complex rooms, shafts and corridors and its socialist hard working populace. Ionian Rise North was claimed on 18th of April 2022. The base developed into a modest mining outpost consisting of a landing pad, a plaza, the Troika tower and a mess of tunnels including a bombing panic room and the old consul room where the UN meeting was hosted. A starfigher hanger was later added as a response to frequent bombing runs from [[Vulnere]]. The base had the bare minimum of industry, including a haphazard array of power furnaces that players would have to gingerly walk over the bare rock mountain to get to and smaller planet miners. Around this time the beginnings of the Trench was dug out which served as a semi underground hangar and entrance for planet miners, the underside would be continued to be carved out that by spring 2024 over a third under the Anthill was a empty pit. During this time the settlement also experienced a purge on 3 November 2022. In the intervening hours the base was sacked and much of its technology stolen. The settlement also had limited fleet capacity with only 1 or 2 corvettes serving as flagships in the latter months and members mostly fielding shuttles to light freighters.

Near the end of January 2023 [[Consue]] joined the settlement and started to make steady changes. She starting to work on a completely overhauled design for the base, this is when the Anthill overall philosophy started to shift into technological efficiency and involved engineering married with visual elegance to the point of vanity. The first of these stages was a overhauled round trip auto sorted storage, a onmi ship printer, new hangars for gunships and corvette and ramped up resource gathering. This was done in tandem with designing newer and larger trade ships earning a signature anthill style to the fleet as well as a plans for a fortress.

While drafting up these plans the political situation at the Anthill evolved. The ASR as dissolved into [[Orovika]] to take advantage of the larger nations stations and resources on paper while Amcar remained a solid social community block. Tensions also rose about conflicting plans and commitments which lead to the leave and foundation of [[Arion]]. By the end of May 2023 the plans for the central fortress where finalized and ready to be built in survival. In the process of construction Consue became frustrated with the Orovikan material policies and assistance. In the Anthillian perspective, Orovika was nothing more than a louse collation of settlements sharing station benefits and piracy protection pacts, little direct aid came into Anthill from the bloc. The fact that the nation had a non existent presence in regulus (it was the "vipers pit" after all) also lent to the feeling of isolation.

This led to Consue to turn to the [[Orlandia]], neighboring city on Aret managed by [[Imperial Nova]], for aid whom responded with many boons including new warship designs for the settlement (a 4k and and the Kraken) and steady supply of natural resources. However the Novans shaky neutrality policy meant that the Anthill was soon thrust into the [[Alliance of Regulus-Vega War]]. The central fortress of the anthill was fully bult by mid of July 2023 but the constant sieges from [[Vega]] as a result from the war caused the settlement to enter into a 5 mouth period of dormancy.

This led to a negotiation wherein Juuliett wold return Consue's items and head, but after this negotiation had concluded, Consue continued to attack, prompting Cortesian security forces to interfere with Consue and let Juuliett get away. Shortly afterward, Consue left Cortesia Del Mar, citing long-held grievances between her and [[Yodabird19]], the military leader of Cortesia and the one to prevent her from pursuing Juuliett.

The '''Amcaran Social Republic''', also known as '''Amcar''' (not to be confused with the settlement [[Anthill|Amcar]]), was a somewhat roleplay-oriented nation that focused primarily on culture, colonization, and community.

During its existence on the server, and somewhat to this day, the people of Amcar spread their obsessively patriotic message across the server, largely through the spam of "Glory to Amcar," a cheap rip on "Glory to Arstotzka" from the game Papers, Please. Amcar was involved with a broad spectrum of nations, but primarily associated with the other major colonial powers such as ImperialNova, UNSC, the Eternal Sith Empire, Primordial, Panacea, Aetheria, and the Allied Sovreign States as a whole.

Although Amcar ceased as a nation in the latter half of 2023, its legacy persists through former members on the server such as [[Consue]] and Oliveburger22, and the estranged President Context ([[NoContextGiven]]).

The workers of the Aret Mining Corporation in the Ionian rise rose up against their corporate oppressors, led by [[NoContextGiven]], Squirrel_deity, and Wynotwin who went on to form Amcar with the Writ of the Ionian Worker.

== Actual History ==
Friends [[NoContextGiven]], Squirrel_deity, and Wynotwin learned of the continuation of Star Legacy and wanted to form a nation together once the server launched. They settled on making a communist nation and chose to settle on Aret due to its especially high resource content at the time, eventually choosing the Arta Ridge South to settle on. Unfortunately, the group had to promptly move after the area was claimed by another faction. This led them to the Ionian Rise North where they would found the settlement of Ionia and, by extension, the Ionian Social Republic on April 18, 2022. Squirrel_deity, Wynotwin, and [[NoContextGiven|Context]], despite having differing official titles, became equal members of a tri-dictatorship known as the Troika, which became the nation's main executing power.

Shortly after this, the fledgling nation was contacted by one Vortexion who informed them of the name's similarities to his own faction, Iona, and that the similarity in name may draw unwanted attention to the young nation. It was at this point that [[NoContextGiven]] came up with the name Amcar, basing it off of the AMC or "Aret Mining Corporation" from the lore they had imagined.

During its early existence, the nation was primarily comprised of the friend group surrounding the original founders, though the original group would slowly withdraw from the server until solely Squirrel_deity, NoContextGiven, and 40spaceshrimp remained as consistent players by the end of the year. A larger portion of the population began to be made up of newer players that joined the nation, especially following the transition to a republican government in late 2022.

Shortly after its formation, Amcar began to look outward for allies and made its first treaty with Aetheria on April 29, 2022, the [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y9dp6OvITzJ4rDKBedZMA_LIwgRlCBxefc__-FZMBRQ/edit?usp=sharing Amcar-Aether Pact] following the Ionian Conference. Amcar would continue to form treaties with likeminded nations including the Eternal Sith Empire, UNSC, and later Primordial and Panacea. These alliances would soon prove to be of great assistance as Amcar found itself embroiled in its first conflict.

Amcar was founded directly east of the nation of Vulnere, a pirate nation that existed within the larger Echelon-sphere. There had been prior skirmishes between the two nations, but the event on May 20 would prove to solidify Amcaran involvement.

On the evening of May 20, many of the people of Amcar as well as allies were online and had planned to host a meeting at Amcar to discuss Amcar's involvement in the chetherite and piracy wars. One player, chirp_bat, was delayed returning to the city from a trading mission and found herself flying at a time that pirates were about. The Amcaran's online, at the orders of NoContext, piloted shuttles and flew out to meet the late trader and escort her back to the settlement. It was a precaution, though the Amcaran's did not expect an attack, or so claimed NoContext in a later report to Squirrel_deity. After some time of flying, the Vulnere pilots suddenly changed course to engage the group. Fortunately, the convoy successfully arrived back at the settlement and the trader was able to disembark and seek shelter within the base; unfortunately, NoContext, inexperienced in ship combat, overestimated his group's chances and chose to engage the enemy and seek a fight. Luckily, the nearby Amcaran allies, representatives Ashparty, Elomilo, and Killer666dog, chose to aid in the battle. Despite this, the shuttles, designed for transport, not combat, fell quickly to sustained fire from the more dedicated warships. As the battle progressed, even with the losses, it seemed that the escort force was likely to win, until the wider Echelon fleet arrived. All defending ships aside from the original trade vessel were lost with no enemy losses (except time and cheth). Shortly after the defeat, a monument was set up in Korfu Trench on Aret, north of Amcar proper, around one of the fallen shuttles.

The attack solidified Amcar's presence in the conflict and status in many alliances, yet NoContextGiven was still hesitant to declare an open conflict stating "...I dont wanna ruffle the feathers of a nation twice our size that can and has decimated us." It was only with pressure from the other members that he conceded, especially Squirrel's declaration, "Their feathers are already in such a state of disarray that any harm reduction is useless...The fact that they have ''already'' decimated us is probably a sign that aggressions are already happening."

Amcar would go on to side consistently with colonist forces throughout the period colloquially referred to as the Echelon or Pirate Wars, especially during the first part, the "Cheth War," which saw the blockade of Damkoth. Some alliances Amcar would join include: the [[Coalition Against Piracy]], [[Allied Sovereign States]], [[NATO|NATO (Nova Amcar Tpanacea Orovika)]], and Aret Gang.

The culmination of the Echelon Wars was the great cold war between the [[Allied Sovereign States]] of colonist forces and the [[Bastion of Neutral Groups]] headed by Echelon. Rather than ending in a great conflict, Echelon agreed to stand down in exchange for one of the nations of the ASS, Detreus, agreeing to turn against the ASS and turn to piracy. The following month of August would see the colonist nations, especially Amcar, struggle to resist the relentless Detreus force. Echelon was extremely powerful, yet civil even in war. On the other hand, Detreus was feral and fought without mercy for their prey. Amcar, unfortunately, found itself the victim of many of these attacks. A greater misfortune was the Amcaran's struggle to pick up the pieces after having given their all and been brutally defeated in the first pirate war, which destroyed their resolve, something Detreus would take great advantage of.

It was not all gloom in this period, however, as things began to turn around with the [[Coalition Against Piracy]] and Amcar's peak. Many more people had joined the nation and Amcar was able to establish numerous outposts and settlements across the sector, even seeing success in inviting the industrialized and experienced [[Apollo]] settlement to the nation. One large turning point was on August 16, 2022 when the Amcaran's finally found their footing once more. During a regular build session on the server, much of the nation was online working when Detreus forces arrived and began bombing the Amcar settlement. Rather than hiding as they had previously, the Amcaran forces present, although caught off-guard, scrambled fighters and were able to repel the attack with help from experienced players without suffering major losses. It was the first semblance of victory for the nation and they reveled in it. Over the next few months, Amcar would begin conducting more offensive and defensive missions with help from the [[Coalition Against Piracy|CAP]]. Unfortunately this would not last.

Throughout its existence, Amcar was never home to the greatest technological advancement nor the most magnificent of architecture. The majority of the people were strongly loyal, though they often found themselves more concerned with other ventures, with the time that was dedicated to the server often being spent engaging in less-than-productive activities, not necessarily helping to advance the nation. The majority of the population enjoyed the roleplay aspects of the nation more than committing to activities that would aid in the long term. The situation was further hampered by constant disagreement within the government on how to go about national development. Amcar was always extremely proud and stubborn, though this national pride and sense of identity would lead to the more conservative parties in the administration refusing some forms of aid that were more efficient, solely due to their solutions not fitting well into the culture-specific designs that the nation was committed to. This was best summarized with the "orange fuel tanks," which developed into a sort-of inside joke in the community surrounding Amcar. It was a reference to the NASA-punk Amcaran ship doctrine, where ships would be designed with real spacecraft philosophies in mind, but molded to more of an aesthetic role and changed to fit into the constraints of the server. This often led to more effective ship designs being rejected as "not Amcaran." Control over the early nation was primarily shared between the more conservative and traditionalist Squirrel_deity, and the young, impressionable NoContextGiven. NoContextGiven would often cave to any kind of pressure and was quick to take action on a whim, while Squirrel_deity was much more cautious and conservative, and often refused to sacrifice Amcar's identity to progress.

Even following Squirrel_deity's withdrawal from the nation in mid to late 2022, the nation suffered from a lack of inspiration or motivation, especially NoContextGiven who began to loose a sense of purpose and overall interest in the server, focusing more on other areas of life.

As the school year began, Amcar saw fewer and fewer regular players, and outposts and settlements were abandoned more and more. Apollo too eventually ended up leaving to join/form the later ally of [[Yakuza]]. The final seal in the first republic (the authoritarian state) was an incident between NoContext and Squirrel_deity that resulted in NoContext briefly leaving the nation before returning with the settlement claim of Kozani Plains in the northwest of Aret, and Squirrel's withdrawal from the nation. The inactivity from Squirrel mixed with NoContext's departure from the settlement led to the main Amcar settlement purging on November 3, 2022.

The settlement was completely sacked over the course of 15 minutes, including the vast majority of the industrial area the the heart of the base. Context would later rebuild some of these assets but never to their former glory, further loosing interest in the server and slowing progress. The industrial power old Amcar had (although limited) would not be matched until the renovation of the base done in 2023 by Consue. The closest the old industrial room ever had to being repaired was the placement of a few power furnaces on the side of the mountain temporarily which ended up becoming a permanent feature as apathy levels soared among the player base. Amcar the nation was dissolved, leaving the reformed settlement to join the nation of Tura, an odd band of misfit settlements, in November of 2022.

The '''Amcaran Social Republic''', also known as '''Amcar''' (not to be confused with the settlement [[Anthill|Amcar]]), was a somewhat roleplay-oriented nation that focused primarily on culture, colonization, and community.

During its existence on the server, and somewhat to this day, the people of Amcar spread their obsessively patriotic message across the server, largely through the spam of "Glory to Amcar," a cheap rip on "Glory to Arstotzka" from the game Papers, Please. Amcar was involved with a broad spectrum of nations, but primarily associated with the other major colonial powers such as ImperialNova, UNSC, the Eternal Sith Empire, Primordial, Panacea, Aetheria, and the Allied Sovreign States as a whole.

Although Amcar ceased as a nation in the latter half of 2023, its legacy persists through former members on the server such as [[Consue]] and Oliveburger22, and the estranged President Context ([[NoContextGiven]]) who can't seem to let go of Amcar despite not wanting anything to do with the server.

The workers of the Aret Mining Corporation in the Ionian rise rose up against their corporate oppressors, led by [[NoContextGiven]], Squirrel_deity, and Wynotwin who went on to form Amcar with the Writ of the Ionian Worker.

== Actual History ==
Friends [[NoContextGiven]], Squirrel_deity, and Wynotwin learned of the continuation of Star Legacy and wanted to form a nation together once the server launched. They settled on making a communist nation and chose to settle on Aret due to its especially high resource content at the time, eventually choosing the Arta Ridge South to settle on. Unfortunately, the group had to promptly move after the area was claimed by another faction. This led them to the Ionian Rise North where they would found the settlement of Ionia and, by extension, the Ionian Social Republic on April 18, 2022. Squirrel_deity, Wynotwin, and [[NoContextGiven|Context]], despite having differing official titles, became equal members of a tri-dictatorship known as the Troika, which became the nation's main executing power.

Shortly after this, the fledgling nation was contacted by one Vortexion who informed them of the name's similarities to his own faction, Iona, and that the similarity in name may draw unwanted attention to the young nation. It was at this point that [[NoContextGiven]] came up with the name Amcar, basing it off of the AMC or "Aret Mining Corporation" from the lore they had imagined.

During its early existence, the nation was primarily comprised of the friend group surrounding the original founders, though the original group would slowly withdraw from the server until solely Squirrel_deity, NoContextGiven, and 40spaceshrimp remained as consistent players by the end of the year. A larger portion of the population began to be made up of newer players that joined the nation, especially following the transition to a republican government in late 2022.

Shortly after its formation, Amcar began to look outward for allies and made its first treaty with Aetheria on April 29, 2022, the [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y9dp6OvITzJ4rDKBedZMA_LIwgRlCBxefc__-FZMBRQ/edit?usp=sharing Amcar-Aether Pact] following the Ionian Conference. Amcar would continue to form treaties with likeminded nations including the Eternal Sith Empire, UNSC, and later Primordial and Panacea. These alliances would soon prove to be of great assistance as Amcar found itself embroiled in its first conflict.

Amcar was founded directly east of the nation of Vulnere, a pirate nation that existed within the larger Echelon-sphere. There had been prior skirmishes between the two nations, but the event on May 20 would prove to solidify Amcaran involvement.

On the evening of May 20, many of the people of Amcar as well as allies were online and had planned to host a meeting at Amcar to discuss Amcar's involvement in the chetherite and piracy wars. One player, chirp_bat, was delayed returning to the city from a trading mission and found herself flying at a time that pirates were about. The Amcaran's online, at the orders of NoContext, piloted shuttles and flew out to meet the late trader and escort her back to the settlement. It was a precaution, though the Amcaran's did not expect an attack, or so claimed NoContext in a later report to Squirrel_deity. After some time of flying, the Vulnere pilots suddenly changed course to engage the group. Fortunately, the convoy successfully arrived back at the settlement and the trader was able to disembark and seek shelter within the base; unfortunately, NoContext, inexperienced in ship combat, overestimated his group's chances and chose to engage the enemy and seek a fight. Luckily, the nearby Amcaran allies, representatives Ashparty, Elomilo, and Killer666dog, chose to aid in the battle. Despite this, the shuttles, designed for transport, not combat, fell quickly to sustained fire from the more dedicated warships. As the battle progressed, even with the losses, it seemed that the escort force was likely to win, until the wider Echelon fleet arrived. All defending ships aside from the original trade vessel were lost with no enemy losses (except time and cheth). Shortly after the defeat, a monument was set up in Korfu Trench on Aret, north of Amcar proper, around one of the fallen shuttles.

Throughout its existence, Amcar was never home to the greatest technological advancement nor the most magnificent of architecture. The majority of the people were strongly loyal, though often found themselves more concerned with other ventures, with the time that was dedicated to the server often being spent engaging in less-than-productive activities, not necessarily helping to advance the nation. The majority of the population enjoyed the roleplay aspects of the nation more than committing to activities that would aid in the long term. The situation was further hampered by constant disagreement within government on how to go about national development. Amcar was always extremely proud and stubborn, though this national pride and sense of identity would lead to the more conservative parties in the administration refusing some forms of aid that were more efficient, solely due to their solutions not fitting well into the culture-specific designs that the nation was committed to. This was best summarized with the "orange fuel tanks," which developed into a sort-of inside joke in the community surrounding Amcar. It was a reference to the NASA-punk Amcaran ship doctrine, where ships would be designed with real spacecraft philosophies in mind, but molded to more of an aesthetic role and changed to fit into the constraints of the server. This often led to more effective ship designs being rejected as "not Amcaran." Control over the early nation was primarily shared between the more conservative and traditionalist Squirrel_deity, and the young, impressionable NoContextGiven. NoContextGiven would often cave to any kind of pressure and was quick to take action on a whim, while Squirrel_deity was much more cautious and conservative, and often refused to sacrifice Amcar's identity to progress.

Even following Squirrel_deity's withdrawal from the nation in mid to late 2022, the nation suffered from a lack of inspiration or motivation, especially NoContextGiven who began to loose a sense of purpose and overall interest in the server, focusing more on other areas of life. The final seal in the first republic (the authoritarian state) was an incident between NoContext and Squirrel_deity that resulted in NoContext briefly leaving the nation before returning with the settlement claim of Kozani Plains in the northwest of Aret, and Squirrel's withdrawl from the nation. The inactivity from Squirrel mixed with NoContext's departure from the settlement led to the main Amcar settlement purging on November 3, 2022.
